For us, a rich life and lifelong bonds begin through the shared language of food. Makr Hospitality is born from an elegant merger of the culinary and hospitality worlds.

Makr crafts unparalleled culinary-centered places of hospitality that weave guests into the local fabric of exceptional destinations.

What does it mean to know a place? How do shared experiences bond us together? What is the true potential of lifelong craft? One way or another, these questions have shaped the careers of our co-founders Charlie Palmer and Christopher Hunsberger.

Charlie began investigating the true meaning of “local” by gathering vegetables in his family garden in upstate New York, and continued with pioneering work to redefine American Cuisine with the opening of Aureole in 1988.

Christopher’s experience leading the best hotels in the world revealed what people can achieve when they’re united in a belief that true hospitality centers around connection to place.

We envision Makr Hospitality as an innovative force for good that grows talent and inspires new, lasting relationships. Really, it’s about bringing people together, without barriers, to harvest and celebrate local bounty and foster community.

Cultivating great destinations is a collaboration. We start with specific places we love and cherish, where we unite with local legends, artisans and masters of their craft to define and express a collective spirit and culture. Then we draw our diverse talents together and see how they collectively sharpen one another as the crackle of one promising idea sparks the next.

One more thing: we aim to stir up revelry everywhere we go. We take our work seriously—but it is fun. Thank you for joining us.
